Why do Volunteers Pay PDF Print E-mail

Feeding a buck

Being a non-profit organization, your fees are needed to help to cover overall running costs.

Cost of life in the bush is higher than in the cities because we are far from everything. When we welcome volunteers, we still have to cover the following expenses:

  • Food for volunteers and underprivileged children
  • costs of accommodating volunteers and children
  • fuel for the generator
  • telephone and internet
  • animal food and care
  • salaries for our staff
  • paraffin for lights
  • gas for refrigeration
  • renovations, upgrading of facilities
  • education equipment and material
  • practical education materials
  • fuel for transport of the children
  • veterinary fees

Your fees as a volunteer help us to achieve education for the children and care for the animals. Participating as a volunteer at Daktari is a donation of your time, your knowledge as well as a financial support for the project.
