Two weeks ago a missionary living behind Sekororo hospital found 3 baby genets in a puddle of water, under a tree, in his back garden. We had a big storm the night before and that's probably why they fell from the tree.
They were crying and very wet. Casper, the missionary waited for the mother to come back but unfortunately, she didn't. He wanted to wait some more but the risk for the genets to die of cold and hunger was too high so he decided to wrap them up in a blanket so they could be warm. It was a difficult decision and we like to think it was the best.
Innocent, a kid who already came to Daktari last year, was with the missionary when he found the little genets. Innocent advised Casper to take the genets to Daktari so we could care for them and also because he has been taught, by Daktari, to care for wildlife.
This is an amazing successful story which proves again that our educational programme works!!!
Candy, the Maltese puddle of Daktari, straight away decided she would be the mother of the kitten and hasnt left them alone one second yet.
