From the 11th to the 16th of July DAKTARI had the pleasure to welcome 12 students and two teachers from Mulgrave School (Vancouver) for a summer camp. Lots of activities were organised such as building a warthog camp, bush walk, visit to the Kruger National Park, game drive in a big 5 game reserve, visit to the snake park. There was also a special day where the Canadians met some South African students and went into their village and school to play a soccer match. Before the game, teams of Canadian and South African children were made and they had to prepare together a traditional meal. What a way to meet another culture and make new friends !!! They all managed to get over their language differences and could share a wonderful meal with the teachers from both countries. It’s with lots of emotion that both teams sang their National Anthems before the soccer match. They all played remarkably well under a burning sun and the victory went to CANADA (2:1) who really wanted to leave a good image of their stay in the village. We thank Ramatau School for welcoming everyone for that day, and Mulgrave School and its students for their generous support and great company. ![]() The team from Canada. ![]() ![]() Building a warthog camp. ![]() The team who made the fires to cook the meal. ![]() The team who cooked the "pap". ![]() ![]() The team who cooked the meat. ![]() The team who cooked the "Mogodu". ![]() The team who cooked the sauce. ![]() The Ramatau soccer team. ![]() The Canadian singing their national anthem. ![]() The South Afrcan singing their anthem. ![]() Our two teams playing soccer. |
